Cosplay FAQ

It is not customary to travel on public transit in intricate cosplays, such as full armor suits, body extensions, or larger gowns (think Stormtroopers, Jabba the Hutt or Padme Amidala). We have changing rooms available by reservation onsite for fans traveling to the convention center (more on that in the below!).

We ask that you follow Japanese etiquette and wait to change into your cosplay until you arrive at Makuhari Messe.

Casual Cosplay is any soft fabric costume that is like daily clothing. We ask that you carry any additional large cloaks, capes, and accessories, in your backpack if you are traveling to the convention center.

For Casual Cosplays, think of Rey, Han Solo, or Luke Skywalker.

Intricate Cosplay is more detailed and anything that is more than your daily clothing. If you plan to wear a full suit, body extensions, or larger gowns, you will need to travel out of cosplay and get ready onsite. More information on the registration process below.

For Intricate Cosplay, think of Padme Amidala, Stormtroopers/Full Armored Characters, or Jabba the Hutt.

Please keep  all Star Wars prop weapons such as blasters and lightsabers discreetly hidden away  in your bags as you travel to the convention center.

You do not need to register to cosplay at Star Wars Celebration.

If you are wearing intricate cosplay, you will need to reserve a time slot to access the changing room. More information below.
